SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCE AS A STRATEGIC OPTION FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES SURVIVAL
Abstract
This study examined sustainability and resilience as a strategic option for firm survival. The methodology used is review of relevant and extant literature, report of Apple, IBM, and Cadbury Nig. PLC, after which conclusion was made. It was revealed that Apple, IBM and Cadbury Nig. PLC were resilient to halt sliding into failed organizations by reducing their cost of operation; by trimming their product offering, reduction in number of employees, innovative in design, encouraged a culture of accountability, effective wage system and review of the supply chain. Their major focus was to increase customer satisfaction and their market shares which results in efficient and effective operation of the organization. Such a resilient strategy rebound the firm on the part of success.
