INFLUENCE OF HOME AND SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA

Abstract


This paper examined the Influence of Home and School Environments on Students Academic Performance in Secondary Schools in Nigeria. It began by introducing the reader to the general influence of home and school environment on the students’ academic performance in secondary schools. The paper also clarified the concepts of home and school environments and students academic performance and highlighted the various aspects of the home and school environments and their influence on the students’ academic performance in secondary schools in Nigeria. It was recommended amongst others that parents should practice good parenting in order to provide a pleasant home environment as to facilitate their children psychological and physiological growth that would enhance their learning development in the school. Also, the educational administrators should adopt a flexible and democratic leadership style in schools and the school environment should be adequately planned and beautifully constructed and painted to appease to the aesthetic values of the students as well provide ventilations and adequate lighting in the classroom and among others .Conclusion were made and the implication of the study drawn.
