TOWARDS ENSURING QUALITY ASSURANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS BY PRINCIPALS IN ENUGU STATE
Abstract
The role of secondary education in achieving Nigeria’s National Development goals cannot be over emphasized. However, it is only qualitative secondary education that can play this role by fostering the worth and development of the individual for each individual’s sake and for the general development of the society. This study unveils the vital role of personnel management in ensuring quality assurance in the secondary school system. Concepts of secondary school, principalship, quality assurance and personnel management were discussed in perspective. Effective personnel management by principals was portrayed as a major guarantor of quality assurance in secondary schools. Consequently, it was recommended among other things that principals of secondary schools be retrained on effective personnel management strategies.
